Notes
Variations - (Pathanthara)
2 – veladulella – polatulella. 'veladi’ and 'polati’, both mean a 'damsel’. In the present context, from the point of view of prAsa-anuprAsa, 'veladulella' seems to be appropriate.
3 – taDuvanAyenu – In all the books, this is given as 'taDavanAyenu’. 'taDavu’ and 'taDuvu’ (or taDiyu) are two different words. 'taDavu’ means ‚ 'to touch’, 'to feel’, 'to search'; 'taDuvu’ (or taDiyu) means 'to become wet’. In the present context, 'taDavu’ is not appropriate. Either it should be 'taDuvanAyenu' or 'taDiyanAyenu'.
4 – kanukondurOyani – kanukondunOyani. From the context, ‘kanukondurOyani’ seems appropriate.
5 – mUya – mUsitE.
6 – kAcukondurO – brOcukondurO.
7 – eNDaganAyenu – eNDanAyenu.
9 – celulu – celuni. ‘celulu’ seems to be appropriate.

This kRti forms part of dance-drama 'nauka caritraM' – The Boat Story.
(Background – The gOpis meet kRshNa at the yamunA river and travel in a boat happily. In their excitement of meeting kRshNa, gOpis become proud thinking that kRshNa is their property. In order to remove their proudiness, kRshNa creates a storm in the river and as the boat is tossed about, it develops a fissure and water starts entering the boat. kRshNa feigns illness and the gOpis become desperate as to how they would reach the shore and ensure safety of kRshNa. In order to save the boat, listening to the words of kRshNa, they take off their blouses to plug the fissure. But, as these also were washed off, kRshNa asks them to remove all their clothes to plug the fissure in the boat. Now, this song.)
